[Dacentec] is a young datacenter technology leader with a mission to design, build & operate green cloud datacenters and to enable partners to build their own green cloud datacenters.
Dacentec’s activities focus on the provision of technology-neutral green cloud datacenter services including the provision of raw CPU, storage and networking capacity, a unique and efficient energy cloud system, high-quality environmental monitoring tools and datacenter automation operating systems.
Dacentec will offer these services either in a licencing model in customer’s existing datacenters and as such enable third parties to use Dacentec’s technology as a platform to offer their own end-customer XAAS (everything as a service) offerings, or offer the Dacentec solutions directly through owned datacenter facilities.
Function Description
The Software Engineer will part of the software team. The team is responsible for the perfect design of new products, seamless execution of upgrades, documentation and installation procedures. All projects are in the field of datacenter automation software / frameworks.
As the requirements of our products are of a very high level, requirements for the personnel are similar. Therefore he or she needs outstanding technical skills, understanding of systems used in the context of hosting providers and data centers as well as good communication skills.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Reports to the Development Director
Design, develop and modify software components following scrum software development methodology
Develop and perform software system testing, integration testing and validation procedures,
Fix bugs and update software versions, and by doing so you participate at the improvement of the software
Work closely with the software archtiects and team members, and you ensure up to date technical knowledge for yourself and for the team
Will provide all necessary information tot the technical writer who will write documentation, installation manuals for products and upgrades
Is prepared to occasional travel.
Profile
Skills
University degree in engineering (or equal by experience)
At least 3-10 years of IT experience
Extensive experience with product development (not solely GUI development, but real creation of products where the GUI itself is only a small fraction of total work).
Experience with Scrum methodology
Good knowledge of Python, Java (or other OO language), kernel, database design and webservices architecture is required.
Good knowledge of Object-Oriented design and programming
In depth understanding of Linux or UNIX, filesystems, Databases
Experience with (cross-platform) development
Experience in server development using an application framework such as J2EE, JBoss, Django or Rails
Proven experience with NoSQL, KeyValueStores
Knowledge of Server Monitoring and Management Frameworks, Operating Systems
Experience in working with off-shoring teams for testing and development (is a plus)
Knowledge of functional programming (is a plus)
Contributed to a project in the Open Source Field (is a plus)
Experience in Datacenter automation (is a plus)
Other technical knowledge is an advantage
